Makes 4 x approximate 8inch pizzaâs
Ingredients:
For the base :-
500g strong white flour
14g dried yeast
Pinch salt
Pinch sugar
300ml warm/ tepid water
For the pizza sauce:-
400g tin chopped tomatoes
100g tomato purĂŠe
4 cloves garlic ( chopped finely)
1 onion (finely diced)
Dessert spoon olive oil
2 teaspoons dried oregano ( can be fresh oregano if available)
Salt & pepper to season
For toppings:-
Mozzarella Cheese
You choose :- Pepperoni, chorizo, sliced peppers, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, fresh baby spinach, or whatever toppings you & your family enjoy.
Cook at Gas Mark 3 / Approx 160 degrees
Method
1. Make pizza sauce.
SautĂŠ off onions in olive oil, add chopped garlic, add tomato purĂŠe, gentle cook for a minute whilst stirring.
Add oregano then chopped tomatoes and simmer for about 20 minutes.
Season to taste.
2. Make pizza base.
Put all dried ingredients into a bowl and mix together.
Add warm / tepid water and knead into dry ingredients until all combined.
Place on a lightly floured table and knead for 5 minutes.
Roll out thinly into 4 individual pizzaâs
Place on a greased baking sheet / or on parchment paper.
Set a side and allow to prove for about 25 minutes in a warm draft proof room.
3. Spoon on the tomato sauce mix.
4. Add toppings of your choice
5. Finish with mozzarella & fresh herbs
6. Cook for about 25/ 30 minutes
Serve
This can be served with freshly shaved Parmesan, seasonal salad, chips or whatever your family enjoys.
