As we all experience our unique breast cancer journeys, we unfortunately have some side effects to contend with. Caroline is kindly sharing some of her experiences, starting with...
The joy of getting my eyebrows back!!
One of the unfortunate long-term effects of Chemo for me was that my eyebrows didn’t grow back fully. I used to spend hours trying to pencil in even eyebrows, only to catch myself in the mirror with one wonky side or one had disappeared altogether. Just another reminder of what cancer had taken from me. So when my breast care nurse suggested I have my eyebrows tattooed I thought I would give it a go. It was the best thing I have had done, next to my reconstruction of course. No more morning horrors for me trying to get an even pair that will last the day. I love mine and wouldn’t ever go back to pencil.
I went for the miroblading technique. Microblading is a tattooing technique in which a small handheld tool made of several tiny needles is used to add semi-permanent pigment to the skin to create fuller looking eyebrows. It looks like individual hairs and is very natural. I have them topped up every 18 months and the expense is so worth it.
If my story sounds familiar I would say why not give it a go. Make sure you go to a recommended technician. It's always good if you can get a recommendation from someone you know who has had it done so you can see the actual results.
