3. Our little miracle

Updated: Jul 14, 2018

The sense of relief was indescribable.

“The long awaited moment we met our daughter was one I'll never forget.”

I was induced at 35 weeks + 5 days of pregnancy and we welcomed our daughter, Clara Grace into the world on 3rd May 2018. The sense of relief that she was finally here, healthy and safe was immense! The midwifery team helped us ensure that the first milk she was fed was my sisters. Despite being premature, thankfully Clara needed very little special care. We were in hospital for just 2 nights before being able to go home.

The little happy bubble I was in after her birth was quickly burst when I was sent for a mammogram just hours after she was born. In the days and weeks that followed I had an MRI scan, further breast biopsys, ultrasounds, DEXA scan, CT scan and sentinel lymph node scan. It was back to being pricked, prodded and examined. I knew it was all necessary but all I wanted was to enjoy our newborn daughter.
